Employees of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) had a wish for the new hospital to have its own gym. Due to other priorities and lack of resources, CMC was not able to realize this.
When Baoase heard about the initiative, we did not hesitate and jumped at the opportunity to contribute with USD 9.550 from funds raised through our fishing tournament. The tournament’s sponsors also included: Moneyball, Van der Valk Hotels & Restaurants, Wine Factory, Mood Beach, Epic, Bucketlist and Blue Bay.
Curaçao is seeing unprecedented levels of tourism in 2022, and that number will only increase next year with a new flight expansion by JetBlue. JetBlue is adding more flights to Curaçao from New York. The New York City-based carrier is adding more flights from New York to Curaçao in April, according to Caribbean Journal. On April 6th, the career will add two more weekly flights from New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport to Curaçao.
The Minister of Economic Development, Ruisandro Cijntje, stated:
“This is a significant achievement in order to continue to enhance our tourism industry in 2023 and consequently give an impulse to our economy. These additional flights will contribute towards growing the American market even more, after a great year in 2022.”
What started off as the annual Crab Race organized by Baoase, turned into a astonishing afternoon in paradise! Every year, we organize the iconic Crab Race on the 1st of January to celebrate the year opening with Champagne and oliebollen for our beloved guests. Guests are invited to buy their favorite crab for the race, where all money raised is donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao.
This year, we sold almost 100 crabs, raising nearly USD 6.000 in this event that took place on their beach. Hereafter to raise additional funds, the Director of Sales and Marketing, Sue-Anne Klabèr, surprised the guests by auctioning 2 nights in Beachfront Pool Suites raising an additional USD 5.000. After the winners were crowned and all guests were thanked for their contribution to RMHC and their local community, the General Manger, Thijs van der Valk made a donation on behalf of the van der Valk family, raising the amount once more.
Moved by the generosity and the values ROHC a generous local family staying at Baoase made a beautiful donation which started a chain reaction with donations being made by 5 additional families staying at Baoase, to a amazing amount of USD 50.000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao.
We are more than thankful for our generous guests and being able to contribute to an amazing start of 2023 for RMHC.
