We are pleased to announce that Mr. Thijs van der Valk, the son of Adrianus van der Valk, will follow in his brother-in-law’s and sister’s footsteps by taking over the position of General Manager of Baoase Exploitation Company, including the Directorship of the Flamingo Exploitatie Maatschappij, effective January 25^th, 2021.

“After 7 years of successfully managing Baoase with commitment, passion and enthusiasm; we are very pleased to hand over the reins of the family business to Thijs van der Valk. Together with the Management team and staff, he will continue to build on the strong foundation Baoase already has”, -Oliver Zahn.

Throughout the years, Mr. Thijs Van der Valk has been working for numerous family-owned hospitality companies. He supported the Baoase Team as Assistant General Manager on various occasions prior to his appointment to General Manager. In addition to his professional experience, he completed the studies of International Hotel & Hospitality Management at the EuroCollege Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in 2012.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead Baoase Luxury Resort through these turbulent times. It is a challenge that I am more than excited to take on”, says Thijs van der Valk.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to Oliver Zahn and Jesse Zahn-van der Valk for their outstanding performance as Management couple and would like to wish Thijs van der Valk much success in his new role.

On January 1st, we organized the annual Baoase Crab Race! Our guests joined the competition hoping their crab would be the first to cross the finish line. With the help of our guests we raised a total of 9120 USD for the Ronald McDonald House of Charities Curaçao.

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao Foundation (RMHC) is to create, find and support local programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families.

They can accomplish this through one of their core programs, the Ronald McDonald Family Room and also through alliances with other non-profit organizations who share their mission. With the help of our guests we were able to raise an amazing amount for the Ronald McDonald House of Charities Curaçao.

Baoase is happy to contribute to this amazing cause!

Curaçao has reopened and we are thrilled to welcome back our friends and family from all over the world! The number of COVID-19 infections has remained limited and the spread of the virus is under control.

The Curaçao Tourist Board is working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, Environment and Nature, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority and government agencies to have a safe reopening. Guidelines have also been created and implemented in the tourism industry to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
