World Clean-up Day

On the 21st of September, it was World Cleanup Day. World Cleanup Day is a global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris. Here on Curacao, 3000+ volunteers cleaned up 1 million kilos of illegal waste from 45 different trash spots in our mondi, streets, coasts and underwater. Employees of Baoase participated aswell and cleaned the ‘Wageningenplein’. The result was amazing! They left with a big pick-up truck full of waste.

Family Fun Day

Last weekend the staff committee of Baoase organized a family fun day for Baoase employees.

Many outside games such as rummikub, a bouncy castle, jump rope, block walking, pull strings and play on the shuffleboard were organized. Everyone had lots of fun as you can see on the photos!  Next to all the games that were organized there were also plenty of snacks and drinks.

Everyone participated with lots of enthusiasm and It was a very successful day!

 

Curaçao’s immigration card goes digital

As one of the first Caribbean destinations the Curaçao Tourism Board has announced that starting October 1st, 2019 the immigration card with only be available online.

Going digital brings a vast amount of benefits

  • A traveller will not need to fill in a physical immigration card.
  • Airlines also have it easier due to not needing to purchase the paper immigration cards and so having no delivery constraints on their aircrafts.
  • The Immigration Services will create seamless arrival processes.
  • The information of every traveller visiting Curaçao will be available before embarking on their trip, which will lead to a constant update and increase in accuracy of data.
  • To top it off, this paper-free approach will help create a greener environment!

Holland’s Top Chef, 3 Michelin Star Jonnie Boer was the guest Chef of Baoase Culinary Beach Restaurant on Saturday the August 2nd 2016. Jonnie Boer cooked, together with the Baoase team, an exceptional culinary 6-course menu with an assortiment of great carefully selected wines.  Presented and served by the Sommelier and hostess of the evening, his wife Thérèse Boer.

Coral Restoration Foundation Curaçao visited Baoase to build a pop-up coral nursery

On August 8th non-profit organization Coral Restoration Foundation Curacao (CRFC) visited Baoase Luxury Resort to build a pop-up coral nursery. Over a 3 year period and partnership with CRFC, 240 corals will be hung on coral trees providing optimum conditions for growth. By the end of the partnership, it is the goal to have planted 1500 onto the reef.

Oliver Zahn and Jesse Zahn Van der Valk dove alongside Katie Leeper, Rat Dinardi, Pol Bosch and Liene Muzikante (photographer) from CRFC. It was an amazing experience for Oliver and Jesse, as they contributed to a great cause. The coral clusters which were planted, do not only improve the health of the reefs but also increase fish populations in the area.
