April 6, 2020

We miss you, but we have faith in welcoming you back to Curaçao and to our beautiful resort in the very near future!

First and foremost, we hope to find you and your loved ones safe and healthy during these unprecedented times.

Who would have thought, just weeks ago, that we would find ourselves in the daunting situation we are in? Everything we love so much is under pressure: going on vacation, seeing the world, enjoying life in a relaxed way.

In a short period of time, very difficult decisions had to be made and are still being made on a daily basis, by our leaders in government and consequently by the leaders in the business sector as a whole. One of those decisions was to stop the spread, or flatten the curve, of the Corona Virus on Curaçao as the impact would have been detrimental to our small island. That decision led to the closing of our airport to all inbound and outbound flights. Let it be known that the Government of Curaçao has decided to extend the period of closure of the Curaçao International Airport for inbound passengers from all countries, including Curaçao residents, with another two weeks. This decision will be effective Monday April 27, 2020 up to and including Sunday May 10, 2020.

Needless to say this has a disastrous effect on the tourism industry on our island and a direct impact on all hotel properties including our own as we are not able to welcome any guests at the moment. As we understand the major impact this has for everyone we have adjusted our cancellation policy in order to accommodate you to the best of our ability.

Because of the extensive measures put in place, the good news is that the number of cases stays low. Currently, there are 18 confirmed cases on Curaçao and 6 inconclusive. Of the 18 cases, 1 is deceased and 14 have recovered and are being monitored; meaning Curaçao has 2 active confirmed cases, one who is hospitalized. There are 430 people being monitored related to travel.

Even though many hotels worldwide are shut down, we believe that this is a moment to take a deep reflective breath and plan, inspire, collaborate and work on our strategies to open better than ever. We are using this time to focus on the things we CAN do, so we are ready to WOW you as soon as our borders re-open and we are able to welcome you back to Baoase Luxury Resort.

In the meantime, we would very much appreciate your help in keeping Baoase Luxury Resort top of mind by:

  1. Joining our social media outreach launched last week. Post your  favorite Baoase moment to your profile using #TakeMeBackToBaoase or #DreamingofBaoase..
  2. Leaving us a positive Resort review on Tripadvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/UserReviewEdit-g147278-d1519028-Baoase_Luxury_Resort-Willemstad_Curacao.html

With that said, we are thankful to our entire staff and to you, our dear guests, who are the heart and the soul of our resort, and who make Baoase the unique place it is.

We look forward to seeing you soon for drinks, dinner, or a full-on vacation. We all need that after this ordeal.

Stay Safe and Healthy!

Warm regards,

Oliver and Jesse Zahn- Van der Valk

Help us save tourism on Curacao: please do not cancel your trip, postpone it.

Tourism is the livelihood of the Caribbean. On Curaçao alone a mere 15.000 people work in this industry and are without a job at the moment. Let’s work together and make sure that they are able to come back to their workplaces as soon as possible. We have adjusted our cancellation policy accordingly:
