Zika virus officially removed from the Caribbean

25 November, 2018

The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is happy to announce that the Zika virus is officially removed from the Caribbean. The World Health  Organization (WHO) confirmed this last week.

WHO concluded this due to the evidence that the Zika virus transmission in the Caribbean had been interrupted for over 12 months, or was at undetectable levels, thereby posing very little risk to residents and visitors to the region. This outcome is matched with the shared data by CARPHA in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, which showed that no Zika had been detected for over 12 months in travelers returning from the Caribbean to their countries.

Baoase Luxury Resort is very happy with this news, since it has a positive effect on the attractiveness of spending holidays at Curacao. The Zika virus will not have an impact anymore on our tourists visits and Baoase loves to welcome guest from all over the world.
