“Luxury or not Luxury ?” (TRIPADVISOR)

We have felt very comfortable in Baoase and told that to even all the people over there.

If I do, however, question whether this resort a “Luxury Resort” is, then I have to add to my previous set something: luxury is not the airport pick-up with a deluxe taxi to arrive there, expecting perhaps a BMW or a 4WD, with a hotel logo or not any, than a taxi sign wits for you. The entrance area is poor for a Luxury Resort, as with a generous country house with a gate for two cars, and a small doorway next to wherever friendly Securities care of you.

Luxury are not the beds, comfortable, but neither greater nor thicker ones than in many of any three or four stars property. Those who expect to really good dinner cushions on the chairs, or a luxurious table (I have the same in my Spanish garden and remove them for the next year, because such always looks a little unclean with condensation of cold drinks), this is not to get there. Well, a cushion, yes, off cause, so your wishes always will be completed.

650 USD are a lot of money per night including breakfast, but we had gotten a super suite, # 1, with large private terrace, although situated directly above the kitchen and right behind the bar, no interference was noted there.

We booked directly with the hotel and got, because it was low season and an early booking, this beautifully decorated room, with a discount. Two neighbouring rooms would have pleased us little, because the terraces are very visible without privacy any, one of them a very small one.

A big plus, of true luxury, was the attentive, Curacao-friendly, staff, really kind and all of them, from the front desk to the Managing Couple, friendly everywhere, polyglot (so for us, Spanish speakers, perfect), touched with compliments like on my wife’s birthday, best Sunbeds with Cabanas the WOW artificial Bay and, best food & beverage, little fruit at breakfast, but you can ask and all wishes will be fulfilled, even mangoes or papaya, as well as the wonderful peace and quiet with perfect atmosphere seaside. The always present tuna and over all the king fish were excellent. By taxi, 15 $ in and 15 out, to drive three miles to another restaurant, was superfluous. Curacao offers outside nothing nearly as good as the kitchen of Baoase.

Curacao is friendly, but expensive. If you don’t find, ask the staff and your wishes will be completed! We would always like to come back. Thanks to the hotel!

They’ve thought of everything – and then some!” (TRIPADVISOR)

Baoase exceeded our expectations in all regards! My husband and I went there for our honeymoon and I would highly recommend it for any travellers looking for a relaxing and romantic hotel. This is not the place to take young kids though.

First, the property itself is beautiful and even when the hotel is fully booked there is a ton of privacy and space for each guest. There are beach cabanas for each room (free) and this creates a feeling of space and privacy on the beach.

There are water hammocks, noodles, kayak and snorkels for guests to use which make playing in the water quite fun. The hotel has built an island connected by a bridge which also functions as a breakwater and thus creates calm waters at the beach for swimming. However, snorkelling on the other side of the island is great because of the rocky terrain. The pool is small and we only used it once but the beach more than compensates for that. Plus, many of the rooms have private pools if you’d like another option beyond the beach.

The breakfast (included with the room) is amazing. It includes prosecco for mimosas, about 12 made-to-order items as well as a buffet of fruit, cereal and breakfast breads. The croissants in particular were so tasty and are tough to resist. We ate dinner at their restaurant (on the beach) one night and the food was delicious. We did the chef’s four course surprise menu while in the “romantic beach gazebo” and loved it.

We were upgraded to the “Loft” room, which included a large patio with couches, a table and a kitchen. This was a really nice gesture and greatly appreciated since it was our honeymoon. I was concerned about staying in the lowest “class” of room as it didn’t have a private pool like many of the others but this really wasn’t an issue and I didn’t feel like we were missing out. The rooms are modern, stylish, cosy and comfortable. The nightly turndown service included lighting candles which was so nice to return to after a night out.

Finally, the service. Everyone at this hotel is incredibly friendly! The employees seem to actually enjoy working there and this makes a big difference in the overall experience. They go out of their way to make you happy and anticipate what you might want. For example, we were there over Thanksgiving and they called the day before and asked if we would like to have a turkey dinner arranged for us to celebrate the holiday! This had not even crossed my mind as an option and while we turned them down for that offer, it was much appreciated. It is clear that service is important at this hotel and their efforts are paying off.

If you are contemplating staying at the Baoase, just do it. You will not regret it!

Shifting into “relax mode” came easily and quickly. (Virtuoso Travel Agent Testimonial)

No sooner had I finished unpacking from my three-day getaway to Curacao, did my thoughts take a “hard right turn” to my tantalizingly short, but oh so fulfilling, trip to Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles.  This trip was truly a singular moment in my experience in the travel industry.  The stunning scenic beauty of Curacao, the warm and genuinely attentive service and support and the splendid accommodations were truly “a banquet for the senses”.

Shifting into “relax mode” came easily and quickly.  After our arrival at the spacious and modern Curacao International Airport, we were met by a “friendly and welcoming” resort staff person, Andre.   As we wound our way from the airport to our destination we were treated to a brief tour of the city and a cultural history lesson of the island which he delivered with much passion and conviction.  It was as if he had a “Curacao story” that he wanted to make sure the world heard.

After a brief sojourn from the airport of no more than twenty-five minutes our vehicle pulled in into a charmingly rustic and quiet neighbourhood.  Shortly thereafter our transport comes to what seemed like an unscheduled stop at a somewhat oversized “brown gate”.   But almost on cue members of the “resort management appeared and the large brown door swung wide open and voila, Baoase!

We were warmly greeted at the gate by representatives of the resort staff.  But concurrent with the cordialities I found myself immediately transfixed upon what lay directly beyond the entrance, a bona fide resort “oasis”! The rich array of shrubs and trees along the pathways were lush and perfectly positioned and manicured.  The fauna, yes sea turtles and exotic birds paired with the rich flora, all seemed to move synchronously in the perfectly temperate trade winds.

We were then taken and shown our ocean view accommodations, which can best be describes as a spectacular guest offering.  “Attention to detail”, thoughtful employment of cutting edge accoutrements for guest entertainment , skilful  usage of indigenous artefacts for room decorations all contributed to an absolutely sumptuous villa which seemed to be the hallmark of Baoase.   The mixture of the richly accented décor, accessories and furnishings and technological appointments were cleverly elegant.   The blending of colours, particularly the ingenious use of lush leather wallcoverings and, the beautiful bathroom mosaics truly challenge my notion of “five-star”.

Of course the amazing attributes of this resort facility are further enhanced by the outstanding support staff and the creative and enlightened management and ownership.  Their collective force contribute directly to Baoase seeming to always be functioning smoothly and seamlessly.  From the tree surgeons to the wait staff to the head chef to the management and the ownership, an atmosphere of friendliness, professionalism and guest comfort and enjoyment was omnipresent.  Every meal seemed to be artfully prepared an absolutely delicious.  It was if the creators and developers had conceive an “action plan” for every guest situation.  Nothing seemed to be left to chance.

Natural beauty and charm abound throughout the island of Curacao.  However, the three days I spent lead me to suggest that Baoase as nothing short of a resplendent ethereal “jewel among jewels”.   Be assured when asked my recommendations will be forceful and resounding.  Baoase unquestionably meets the high standard of a world class resort property.

The resort was not stuffy yet it was filled with touches of Asian luxury, beach butlers prepared comfortable lounge chairs in cabanas and brought cold water and fruit, the rooms were candlelit at night, and breakfast was amazing.
